The students received their degrees through Southeastern’s ECHS initiative, for which students take college courses while finishing high school.

“We are incredibly proud of the 26 students who have earned their associate degrees along with their high school diplomas,” said Noah Symynkywicz, Early College High School coordinator. “Their dedication and hard work have paid off despite the challenges they have faced. We eagerly anticipate the bright futures these students will create and the contributions they will make to society.

While participating in the program, after the school day, students participating in ECHS begin by taking Dual Enrollment courses at Southeastern. Then, they can attend college courses full-time at the Massasoit Brockton campus during their junior and senior years of high school. The courses count as credits on their high school and college transcripts, allowing them to earn their high school diploma and an associate’s degree or a significant amount of credits toward a college degree.

Through ECHS, the students participated in Massasoit’s Liberal Arts Transfer Program. Students took classes that gave them a broad background in humanities, natural sciences, math and social sciences. The program is designed for students who plan to transfer the earned credits into a liberal arts bachelor’s degree program.

“Earning an associate degree alongside high school classes, vocational training and extracurricular activities is a truly remarkable accomplishment,” said Principal Leslie Weckesser. “This achievement demonstrates our students' exceptional commitment and readiness for future academic and professional endeavors. We are grateful to Massasoit Community College for their continued partnership in providing this valuable opportunity for our students.”
